Memorial Day

We were determined to get out of the house and celebrate Memorial Day like the majority of Americans. Lena's weekend was spent at the beach promoting Starbucks at the AVP Beach Volleyball Tourney, so lounging in the sand in Malibu or Venice or somesuch similiar was out.

After a brief perusal of the current LA Weekly, we settled on an inland visit to Pasadena for the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Rose Bowl. It was fun, though hot...talk of beaches and swimming soon followed, but we were too tired and wanted to watch the game. So, we stumbled across Barney's Beanery on the famed Colorado Blvd, where we watched Shaq and Dwayne Wade (really just Mr Wade) beat the Pistons, who we were kind of rooting for them. We've never liked the Barney's Beanery in WeHo, but this location is great for watching sports and is less filled with poseurs. Plus, cold Shiner floweth from taps, and at $2.50 a pint during happy hour, who can resist?

Here's a pic of us at the 40 yard-line of the Rose Bowl field:
