We got a fence installed this past weekend. Below are before and after pictures (don't look at the dead grass...that will be replaced with a native California garden this fall).

Jeep Commercial

Sorry to re-blog this...but for those who haven't been to my actor site (www.lenahill.com), here are two versions of the Jeep commercial I shot back in the Spring.

Native Plants can save the world!

We went to a local native plant nursery this weekend, and planted our first round of native plants. We have a small bed that runs along the South side of the garage, which had three awkwardly spaced, brittle rose bushes, so we pulled them up and planted an alternating design of a rich green fescue and a whitish _______, which will have little red bell flowers.

The nursery is fantastic. They have classes, which we hope to attend--on waiting list. They have some picnic tables and it'd be worth going just for that purpose...check it out:

Our foray into landscaping...

Here are the before pictures of our side yard -- the first of many outdoor projects on our home improvement list. We don't have any before-before pics. These pictures were taken after I'd already leveled the side yard with 'mas terra' as my neighbor said, when he donated 7 barrels of dirt, clay really, from the excavation of his driveway. Before, erosion had cracked the sidewalk, and steeped the slop from back to front. It was an all around hazard, especially with a pregnant gal around. We plan to add native CA plants which should help with the erosion, a nice bed of mulch, and a gravel walkway. Stay tuned to the progress.
