Sitting Up

Margaret has been sitting up on her own for a few weeks now (something that happened while Lula (Margy) and Popi (Randy) were here). Since then she's been making stellar progress but can't be trusted to be left alone sitting by herself (the balance isn't quite there). So, in efforts to give her a little independence without the fear of her getting hurt, I put pillows around her so she could play without my interference. I was advised to use the boppy, but it's just not big enough for her. Below are two picture of her play time.

Baby Food

Well...after a few weeks of Margaret trying to swipe food off our plates and reaching for our beverages, we decided that she was ready to try out solid foods. We bought some organic rice cereal but the instructions said to mix it with breast milk and the consistency was so soupy, it wasn't much of a stretch for Lady M. So, next we tried some luscious avocado...boy, that was a winner! Of course the first time she swallowed, she made the most hysterical face, but after that, she just wanted to gobble it down (and get it all over the place). Below are some pictures of her first three attempts. We're getting progressively better but oddly messier...go figure.

My First Mother's Day

What a lovely day it was! My lovely husband took the baby and let me sleep in until 8:30! It was so great! Then, he gave me a delectable chocolate donut for breakfast. Then, he and his dad got to work making a fabulous southern lunch for Margy and myself...chicken fried steak, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes and fried pickles!! Sooooo good! We hung out and relaxed for most of the day. Then Lori, Laci (and close friend Phil) came over and Lori made all of us tuna casserole. I know it may not sound gourmet, but leave it to Lori to make a glorious gourmet tuna casserole...it was divine! Below are a couple pictures of a most lovely day!

(moment of schmultz - I truly love being a mother to my little girl. As everyone says, parenthood completely changes you life...they're not kidding. But i don't think I've ever experienced joy as deeply as I have just looking at my precious creation. God is good and I feel exceptionally blessed).

Hiking with G

The day before Mother's Day, we decided to take a hike in the Angeles National Forest. It was a two mile hike to the bottom and a two mile hike back to the top. The little lady loves the outdoors and stayed awake for the majority of the descent. On the way back up, she'd seen it already and took a nice nap. Below are pictures of our lovely day. Enjoy!

Four Months Old

It's hard to believe that my little baby is five months old. Man, it's true what they say, they do grow up fast. She amazes me everyday. She's learning how to transfer things from one hand to the other, she sees more everyday (she's fasinated with fans right now), she talks more, cries less and puts everything in arms reach in her mouth. But the most impressive thing is that she's starting to recognize her name and turns when I say it. She's so cool...I love her more and more each day. Below are some pictures from month four.
