Father's Day #2
Great day! Matthew decided that what he would like to do for Father's Day is organize the garage, watch a little golf, play frisbee and eat some BBQ...we'll we did it all except eat BBQ (we didn't think to make reservations and the restaurant was an hour wait, with a hungry toddler, that's just not gonna cut it! ha!)...so we ate pizza instead. And I can tell you that the garage looks incredible and he played frisbee like a rock star! I'd say that is one ideal dad! Happy Father's Day!!
Summer has officially begun and we're in full swing! We had a small family cookout and had some water fun in the backyard. M was thrilled to finally be in her bathing suit after pulling it out of her drawer all winter long and trying to put it on! As always, Lori offered up some incredible gourmet fare and we ate like kings! Hooray for summer! May you last long and lazy!
At the end of May, the Clark's headed to Austin, Texas for be guests at one of our favorite people's weddings, Matthew's cousin, Nina. We got to stay at a lovely hotel in Austin called the Mansion at Judge's Hill. Margy, Randy, Matthew, myself, Margaret and the dog, Frisco, shared a room...not a small crowd, but somehow we made it work and somehow we all managed to get some of the best sleep the five of us have had in a long time (completely unexpected for me!)
We ate at great Austin places, and got to hang out with Great Big Grandmommy and walked and played in the incredible heat (I've been living in SoCal long enough to not be accustomed to Texas heat at all!) and Margaret, Randy and Matthew even got to go to the Children's Museum. But I must say, some our most fun was at Emma Long park and playing in the lake. Texas is full of lakes and it's definitely something I miss a lot living in California (our closest swim-able lake is around 5 hours from here).
Then the wedding! Nina looked incredible and from what I could see, it looked like a lovely ceremony, but since the wedding was in the great outdoors of Texas, no way was something like a wedding going to hold my little toddler's attention! So I missed the whole wedding. But, lucky for us, we got to stay in the house on the grounds of the wedding and reception were taking place. So I put Margaret down for the night and went to sit and read in the kitchen and watch the reception from afar. Just as I was thinking that I was missed the wedding and the reception, Matthew and his parents came in to rescue me. The grandparents sat vigil in the house so Matthew and I could go cut a rug! And boy did we!
After that it was time to head to bed and the next morning head back to LA. Goodbye for now, Texas, hopefully we'll return again soon!
